Living in Rosemary Gardens alongside the recreation ground in Park Wood, Park Wood junior parkrun became a regular welcome disruption to the normal sedate Sunday morning peace and quiet we had known in the two and a half years Ann and I have been here.
Don’t get me wrong, the recreation ground in Park Wood has proved to be nowhere near as loud and noisy as we first expected when we moved in. It is after all a public park complete with outdoor gym area, a kiddie’s play area with swings, slides, roundabout etc. plus both football and rugby pitches. The park is also home to annual events like the Park Wood Community Fete and visiting fairgrounds.
Park Wood junior parkrun is a FREE 2km event for junior runners aged 4 to 14 years, which takes place every Sunday at 9:00am in Park Wood, Bicknor Road, Maidstone, Kent ME15 9PS All are welcome to come along and join in the fun.
Weavering Warriors RFC train Wednesdays at the clubs home at Park Wood Recreation Ground, Bicknor Road, Park Wood, so whatever your interest or experience, you’ll find a warm and very friendly welcome.
After their first successful season in 2004, Weavering Warriors RFC became affiliated to both the Kent Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football Union. They are also associated with the Kent Society of Rugby Football Union Referees who provide all referees for our Home League fixtures but they also have their own qualified Coach (a former England International) & Referee.
They currently train every Wednesday at Park Wood Recreation Ground, 7pm-9pm and all home matches are also currently played at Park Wood Recreation Ground. All players must be registered with the Rugby Football Union, which is certified through the Secretary at Weavering Warriors RFC. This requires completion of the Weavering Warriors RFC registration form. All players and members are expected to adhere to a code of conduct and all are requested to sign in agreement of this on joining the club.
